While there are 70 Grades to a coin, these shown above are considered the most common Grades by most people and can give a good idea and understanding of Grades that might be encountered when buying and determining value. It is very important to be able to adequately determine what condition or Grade a coin is in before it is purchased. Many sellers, with no intent of dishonesty, over price coins believing the coin is in much better condition then it actually is. Once the factors of condition, rarity, and demand are pointed out, the seller will usually drop the asking price considerably.
